19 researchers received grants to top universities in the Researchers Abroad program

In the spring 2025 Researchers Abroad call, grants were awarded to 19 researchers. The total amount granted was €496,995. Altogether, 127 applications were submitted, with a total requested sum of approximately €3.5 million. Grants were awarded to 15% of the applicants.

“The growing number of applications indicates a strong need for the flexible mobility funding provided by the Researchers Abroad. The research visits are directed at high-quality research groups and environments in the world’s leading universities in their respective fields,” says Tuomas Olkku, Executive Director of the KAUTE Foundation. According to him, the visits are likely to have long-term benefits both for the researchers themselves and for the Finnish scientific community as a whole.

The funded projects focus on areas such as novel materials, sustainable development, the advancement and application of artificial intelligence from various perspectives, and next-generation data transmission technologies.

The Researchers Abroad is funded by the KAUTE Foundation, the Foundation for Economic Education, the Walter Ahlström Foundation, and the Nokia Foundation.
