Nominate your candidate for the Young Research Entrepreneur of 2021

The Young Research Entrepreneur of the Year is a 5,000 euro award given annually by the KAUTE Foundation’s Academic Entrepreneurship Fund to a researcher who has developed a new research-based business. We are now seeking candidates for the award!

“Entrepreneurship is an effective way to apply research results for the benefit of society as a whole. With the award, we want to encourage young researchers to pursue entrepreneurial careers and show our support to new entrepreneurs,” says Tuomas Olkku, executive director at KAUTE.

The Young Researcher Entrepreneur of the Year can be awarded to a person who

  • is under the age of 40
  • is a full-time entrepreneur
  • has a new research-based business idea
  • has a business in its start-up phase (less than five years of activity and a turnover of less than 10 million euros) 
  • employs at least one person in addition to the owner

Nominations for the 2021 prize can be submitted by any interested person or entity. The nominations must be submitted by 14 January 2022, and the winner will be announced in early spring 2022. Submit your nomination here.

The KAUTE Foundation has awarded the Young Researcher Entrepreneur of the Year award since 2013. Last year, the award was won by Jan Goetz and Kuan Yen Tan, the co-founders of IQM Quantum Computers that is building Finland’s first quantum computer.
