International experience already for nearly 250 researchers

The aim of the Researchers Abroad program is to support researchers in the early stages of their academic careers to gain international research experience at universities and research institutes abroad.

Since 2011, the programme has distributed nearly 5 million euros in grants and funded the research visits of 242 researchers to foreign universities or research institutes. In 2023, 17 researchers were granted funding through the program and the total amount of funding awarded was nearly 450 000 euros.

“Nokia Foundation joined the Researchers Abroad program in 2023 and we are looking forward to receiving high-quality grant applications again this year. By joining forces with the other foundations we are able to reach a broader group of young researchers who are interested in international opportunities,” says Hannu Kauppinen, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nokia Foundation.
